Home Office Design Inspiration

Home office design tips - Share DesignWhen I am not in the office, I work from a lovely space at home.  For others who do the same and also want some stylish accessories, then the website Share Design is for you.

Share Design was established by design savvy friends, Shareen & Miranda, who after years of experience in the design industry put together a website to share with people like you and me, their absolute favourite design items.

I must say the selections in the Study section are stylish and practical therefore get full ticks from me. Enjoy.

Think of your own ideas

Outline editions sell various limited edition prints from graphic artists based in Britain.

This print here caught my eye.

What can I say – brilliant :)

Email closing lines

I admit it – I send too many emails! And yes, I am probably addicted as well.

What did make me think about emails more deeply is this post on email closing lines.

Mine are generally pretty boring and I perhaps over use ‘regards’ and ‘cheers’.

However now that I have this chart to refer too I am lost between natural, self conscious, unfamiliar and familiar.  Where to go from here?

What is your favourite email closing line?

Design Business Tips

There are a few business manifesto lists that I have stumbled across over time, however this one by Mike Dempsey is particularly insightful.

Although Mike writes it for design specific businesses, the tips are worthy enough to flow across business in general.

My favourite out of this list, in order are:

1) Don’t use business jargon

2) Exude enthusiasm

3) Seek out clients (or jobs) you like

4) Take on interesting projects

5) Hire a good financial head

6) Absorb all influences

7) Stay close to the coalface

8) Retain a sense of fun

9) Appreciate the wonderful area that you work in

10) Nurture those around you

11) Last but not least – Be Honest!

Reception Area Ideas

For those readers who have reception areas/desks that are looking unloved, here are some ideas to add some life back into your office.

My favourite is the Scandi Phone from Opus Design (featured here) is colourful and quirky. Being red, it would of course look great in the Next Marketing office :)

Other ideas include -

1) Universal Scandi signs – I particularly like the wooden ‘&’ signs

2) Add some international culture with the Semi Axis globe – from David Met Nicole

3) The Alphabet stool/table from Workshopped.

4) Or perhaps something totally second hand – from just that!
